Exploratorium at Pier 15

The Exploratorium at Pier 15, a science-based interactive museum, has created a new, sustainably-focused home in two piers on the San Francisco waterfront, inside the Embarcadero Historic District. The project rehabilitated the deteriorated substructure and buildings to current code, and removed non-contributing infill between two historic piers to provide interactive access to the water. The museum is aiming for zero net energy and zero carbon footprint in its use; the project was awarded LEED Platinum certification.
