We imagine change in historic and contemporary environments to cultivate thriving, sustainable, and resilient communities.
Maximizing space is a critical concern on campuses. At the Webb School, we transformed Ahmanson Lecture Hall (1965) into Bonnie Johnson Hall: a 1,250 SF state-of-the-art general science lab on the main floor and 850 SF of climate-controlled storage for the Alf Museum of Paleontology on the basement level.
Because of changes in the way students learn, Ahmanson Hall was underutilized. By dividing the space, we expanded its use and helped to reinforce The Webb School’s educational mission.
Tomorrow’s the day! Join us at India Basin Shoreline Park for an immersive on-site tour as part of @aiasf’s Architecture + the City Festival.
Set against the Bay’s edge, this experience brings you face-to-face with the architects, preservation experts, and engineers reimagining one of San Francisco’s most ambitious public landscapes. From climate-resilient design to adaptive reuse of industrial relics, discover the innovations shaping the future of our waterfront.
Congratulations to Associate Principal Elisa Hernández Skaggs, AIA, who is the 2025 Distinguished Alumni of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design of the University of Houston. Elisa received her Master of Architecture in 1992, joined Page & Turnbull in 2000, and became a leader in forward thinking preservation. She is Board Chair of SF Heritage, a member of the AIA/National Historic Resources Committee Advisory Group and is on the AIA/SF Latinx in Architecture Steering Committee. Among her many notable projects, Elisa was the project manager for the adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of the former Riverside (CA) Library into the world-renown Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture.
